This is documentation I have created off the top of my head to help my friend, Ted, who is interested in becoming a programmer. While he is a very intelligent man, his emphasis has been on mechanical engineering (he is looking at changing fields), so I am starting on the basics. Do not take anything I write here to heart; it is just my opinions formed over 30 years of being a professional programmer.
